The Canadian Foreign Ministry warned its citizens this morning, Saturday, against traveling to Israel and the West Bank, due to the volatile security situation in the region.
Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly stated in a post on her account on the X platform, "With the increasing risk of attacks on Israeli territory, the regional security situation remains highly volatile and could escalate without warning."
Joly added, "We have raised our risk level to discourage our citizens from traveling entirely to Israel and the West Bank."
She concluded by saying that "Canadians present in Israel and the West Bank should plan to leave."
The world is awaiting Iran's potential response to an Israeli attack that targeted the consular section of its embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, amid international reports suggesting that the response is "imminent."
It is noteworthy that at the beginning of April, the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus was subjected to an Israeli missile attack, resulting in the assassination of 7 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, including the prominent General Mohammad Reza Zahidi.
Israel has not officially acknowledged the assassination of Zahidi, but it has also not denied responsibility for the assassination.
