The Central Weather Bureau in Taiwan reported that the "Hsia Yi" County in the south of the country experienced 8 earthquakes from Friday until Saturday morning.
It added that these earthquakes are likely unrelated to the Hualien earthquake that occurred last week, according to the Central News Agency of Taiwan "CNA" today.
The bureau continued that from 11:43 PM on Friday until 6:50 AM on Saturday, a total of eight earthquakes struck "Hsia Yi" County, with the strongest earthquake being 4.9 in magnitude, centered in "Budai" Town.
Wu Hsin-Fu, the director of the Earthquake Monitoring Center, ruled out any connection of these earthquakes, which hit "Hsia Yi" County, to the "Mishan" fault, and stated that they are also separate from the Hualien earthquake.
He added that there may be more earthquakes in the coming days, but they are expected to be of limited magnitude, while urging residents to exercise caution, as Taiwan is an earthquake-prone region.
It is noteworthy that after the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.2 and struck the coast of Hualien County in eastern Taiwan on April 3rd, there were concerns that it could lead to strong earthquakes in other parts of the country.
