An Israeli airstrike targeted west of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, hitting a number of journalists, resulting in the martyrdom of journalists Mustafa Threya and Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh, the son of Al Jazeera correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh, according to the channel's announcement.
Wael Al-Dahdouh arrived at the hospital that received the body of his son Hamza after his martyrdom, and this situation was not new to Wael Al-Dahdouh, who lost his wife, son, and daughter on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, after they were targeted in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, in addition to the martyrdom of 13 others including 9 children.
Al-Dahdouh and photographer Samer Abu Daqa were also injured by live bullets from Israeli occupation forces on Friday, December 15, 2023, while performing his work in Gaza, specifically in Khan Yunis.
Palestinian media reported that Wael Al-Dahdouh was transferred to Nasser Medical Hospital to receive the necessary treatment and full care, and Samer Abu Daqa died after suffering a serious injury and bleeding out for almost more than 6 hours.
Wael Al-Dahdouh commented after the injury of Samer Abu Daqa: "We were targeted while accompanying an ambulance, which had coordination to evacuate a besieged family, and we tried, through the coordination granted to the ambulance, to transport the scenes in the area, and after we finished, we were ambushed by a missile," noting that he walked hundreds of meters after being hit trying to stop the bleeding until the paramedics arrived.

It is noted that the Palestinian resistance began its war with the Israeli occupation forces on Saturday, October 7, 2023, inside the occupied territories, and this came as a reaction to all the criminal acts and violations against international and humanitarian laws committed against Palestinian civilians.
