Montreal Police (SPVM) confirmed yesterday, Friday, that the man who was stabbed on Thursday night died in the hospital.
The police received a 911 call around 11:45 PM on Thursday night regarding a conflict in an apartment on 1st Avenue near Provost Street in the Lachine area.
When the officers arrived, they found the 40-year-old man stabbed, and he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
His death was also confirmed yesterday, Friday, becoming the eighth homicide in Montreal in 2024.
A 28-year-old suspect was found outside the building and was arrested by the police; the suspect is the victim’s neighbor and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The police are working to determine the reason behind the alleged fight between the two.
SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant said: “I do not know the reason for the conflict, but we are trying to find out.”
The Major Crimes Unit continues the investigation.
