Flight attendants of the German airline Lufthansa went on strike at Frankfurt Airport early Tuesday, according to the Flight Attendants Union "UFO".
A union spokeswoman confirmed that the action at Germany's busiest airport started at 4:00 AM local time (3:00 GMT) and is scheduled to continue until 11:00 PM.
About 600 flights are expected to be canceled due to the strike, according to the national airline, affecting 70,000 passengers.
The union demands a 15% wage increase and also wants to receive an inflation compensation bonus of three thousand euros ($3,280).
