Two men were killed on Saturday in Montreal when a car hit a pedestrian and then crashed into a grocery store in East Montreal.
A 911 call came in at around 8:30 AM reporting that a car traveling east on Sherbrooke Street collided with several other parked vehicles near De Ormeau Street before crashing into a small store in the Mercier Hochelaga Maisonneuve neighborhood.
Montreal Police (SPVM) spokesperson Véronique Comtois said the car hit a 39-year-old man before crashing into the store.
The 52-year-old driver was declared dead at the scene, and the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He later died from his injuries.
Comtois said police are still working to determine the cause of the fatal accident. She said, "We are still gathering information."
There is still a police scene in place, and the SPVM advises citizens to avoid the area.
