The Jordanian monarch King Abdullah II received today, Sunday, Senator Christopher Van Hollen and Senator Jeffrey Merkley, members of the Appropriations Committee of the US Senate.

The meeting, which was held in the presence of Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince of Jordan, addressed the strategic partnership between the two countries, and the serious developments in Gaza.

King Abdullah II stressed the necessity to move towards an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protect civilians, alleviate the humanitarian disaster in the sector, and ensure uninterrupted delivery of aid.

He reaffirmed Jordan's rejection of attempts to displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need to enable the people of Gaza to return to their homes.

The Jordanian monarch warned against the hostile acts carried out by settlers against Palestinians and the violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, asserting that failure to confront these acts and violations will ignite the situation in the region and lead to the expansion of the war regionally.

The two senators stressed that the tragic humanitarian situation in Gaza is unacceptable, emphasizing that the humanitarian crisis in the sector is rapidly escalating.

They also affirmed the necessity of reaching a comprehensive and permanent solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the two-state solution, appreciating Jordan's efforts led by the King in this regard.

This was followed by a meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, where the Jordanian monarch warned of the catastrophic repercussions of the ongoing aggression on Gaza, according to Jordanian television.

King Abdullah stressed the necessity of putting an end to the tragic humanitarian crisis in the sector, and Jordan's complete rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which constitutes a clear violation of international law, pointing out the need to enable the people of Gaza to return to their homes, according to the Arab World News Agency.

The Jordanian monarch said, "The region will not enjoy stability without a just solution to the Palestinian issue and achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution," emphasizing the importance of the role of the United States in pressing for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, and ensuring the delivery of adequate and sustainable relief, humanitarian, and medical aid to the sector."
