Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida received a new severe blow today, Sunday, due to the widest political scandal in the country in decades, after the arrest of a parliament member from the ruling party.

Bloomberg News reported that local media widely discussed the arrest of Yoshitaka Ikeda, a member of the largest faction within the Liberal Democratic Party.

Prosecutors in Tokyo arrested the parliament member on allegations of failing to report receiving 48 million yen "331,870 dollars" from the faction, according to the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation "NHK", and Ikeda's secretary was also arrested.

It is noteworthy that the Japanese Prime Minister, who is surrounded by problems, is also facing the announcement of an increase in the death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck off the country's northwest coast on New Year's Day, with a magnitude of 7.6, followed by a bloody plane crash at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on January 2nd of this year.
