The data released in Canada today, Thursday, showed that the Ivey Purchasing Managers' Index recorded about 52.0 points during last May, and this reading is negative and worse than market expectations, which estimated the index to be around 65.2 points. The previous reading of the Purchasing Managers' Index had recorded about 63.0 points during last April.
It is worth noting that the PMI Purchasing Managers' Index issued by Ivey College measures the level of activity of purchasing managers within Canada. This survey is conducted on about 175 purchasing managers, who assess business conditions including: employment, production, new orders, prices, and inventories.
