Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said that next Thursday, Israel will stand before the International Court of Justice, accused of committing massacres with the aim of genocide against the Palestinian people.
He added during a speech at the beginning of the government meeting on Monday morning: "On Thursday, the flag of South Africa will be raised in the heart of Palestine, that state that will say before the International Court of Justice and the world that Israel is a criminal state and that it commits crimes against the Palestinians."
He continued: "Today, like every day since 1948, Israel is a state of crime, today like every day we are the victim since 1948, we are in pain; our children are being killed and women and the elderly with premeditation."
He went on: "A soldier searches for a girl to kill her, and another soldier searches for a pregnant woman to kill her, a plane targets a journalist, and a missile targets a disabled child and an orphaned child, and a sniper targets a hungry child."
He questioned: "If what is happening in the Gaza Strip is not a crime of genocide, then how is genocide defined? 22,000 martyrs, 60,000 injured, and 1.5 million displaced in 3 months, isn't cutting off water and electricity and preventing medicine with the aim of killing a crime of genocide? Isn't displacement, killing, and ethnic cleansing genocide!"
He affirmed that "Israel could not continue to deceive the world by blaming the victim," explaining that "the world today lives in the era of social media; it sees, hears, and knows that Israel is a criminal and must be held accountable."
He pointed out that "the International Court of Justice will not address past files on Thursday, but crimes happening today before the eyes and ears of the whole world," expressing his hope that "the 15 judges of the court will stand with the truth and justice, not with political pressures."
He concluded: "In the name of the Council of Ministers, I wish the legal team success, and that the court rules to immediately stop the war and aggression and continue the proceedings to try Israel in all international courts."
