The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, said today, Thursday, that his ministry has begun urgent legal and international procedures regarding the "terrorist incident" that occurred yesterday in the city of Kerman in the south of the country, based on the initial data obtained from official sources.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Amir Abdollahian as saying, "The martyrdom of dozens of our dear citizens following the terrorist operation in Kerman, during the anniversary ceremony of the martyrdom of the martyr General Hajj Qassem Soleimani, was a source of sorrow and grief."
He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated urgent legal and international procedures through the United Nations.
The two explosions occurred yesterday on the fourth anniversary of the killing of Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, near his shrine in his hometown of Kerman.
A large number of people were participating in the memorial ceremony for Soleimani’s death in his hometown when the two explosions occurred, and it is noted that the attack is the deadliest in Iran in 45 years.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Randeep Gaiswal, expressed his sorrow over the two explosions that took place in the Iranian city of Kerman, and expressed solidarity with the government and people of Iran.
Gaiswal said in a post on the social networking site "X," as reported by the Indian channel "NDTV" in its English-language broadcast, "We are shocked and saddened by the horrific explosions that occurred in the city of Kerman in Iran. At this difficult time, we express our solidarity with the government and people of Iran. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the dead and injured."
Media reports had stated that the death toll from the two explosions that occurred yesterday rose to 103 dead and 188 injured.
The United Kingdom also condemned the bombing, with a spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office saying: The United Kingdom condemns the horrific bombing that took place yesterday in the city of Kerman in Iran, which resulted in the killing of many Iranians.
The spokesperson added: "Our condolences to the families of the dead and wounded," according to a statement published on the official British government website.
The Palestinian Presidency also expressed its condemnation and rejection of the crime of killing innocent civilians that took place in the Iranian city of Kerman, which claimed hundreds of victims among the dead and injured due to this painful event.
In a statement today, the Palestinian Presidency expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and the Iranian people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery, affirming its permanent and absolute rejection of killing innocents anywhere in the world, as well as its rejection of assassination policies, whether in Palestine or elsewhere, because this violates international laws and divine religions, especially since the Palestinian people suffer from occupation policies, settler terrorism, and their ongoing attacks on civilians in Gaza, which has resulted in the martyrdom of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, as well as in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, condemned the two terrorist attacks that occurred in Kerman province in southern the Islamic Republic of Iran, which resulted in a number of casualties and injuries due to these attacks.
The Secretary-General confirmed in a statement today according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that the position of the Cooperation Council is firm and rejects all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism, which aim to undermine security and stability and contradict human values and principles.
He expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran and to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
