The International Criminal Court confirmed today, Tuesday, that it is investigating possible crimes against journalists since the outbreak of the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip, according to Reporters Without Borders.

The organization said - in a statement published on its website - that the media defense group submitted two complaints to the International Criminal Court alleging war crimes due to the killing of journalists who were trying to cover the conflict.

Reporters Without Borders added - in its statement -: "The office of Prosecutor Karim Khan confirmed to the organization that crimes committed against journalists are included in the investigation he is conducting in Palestine."

Reporters Without Borders quoted a statement from the office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court as saying: "Crimes committed against journalists are being examined by the Prosecutor's office, among other possible crimes, as part of the ongoing investigation into the situation in Palestine, and the goals of Reporters Without Borders and its work, which are of utmost importance in Gaza and elsewhere, must be supported."

At least 79 journalists and media workers have been killed, the vast majority of them Palestinians, since the war began three months ago, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
