An official statement mentioned today, Saturday, that India strongly protests the visit of British diplomats to a part of Kashmir, which it considers occupied by Pakistan.
The statement added that such a violation of India's sovereignty and the unity of its territory is unacceptable, according to the "Bloomberg" news agency today, Saturday.
The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs lodged a strong protest with the British High Commissioner (Ambassador) in India regarding this violation.
It is noted that Kashmir has been divided between Pakistan and India since the end of British colonialism in 1947, and the two countries dispute sovereignty over the entire region and have fought two wars in this context.
India deploys about 500,000 troops in the section it controls of Kashmir, where armed groups are fighting for independence or joining Pakistan.
In 2019, the Indian federal government canceled the special constitutional status of the part of Kashmir under Indian control and restructured the governance in the state, a move that was met with severe condemnation from Pakistan.
New Delhi accuses Pakistan of fueling the insurgency, which has resulted in the death of tens of thousands of civilians, a claim Islamabad denies, asserting that all it provides is diplomatic support for the right of Kashmiris to self-determination.
