The South Korean car manufacturing companies Hyundai Motor and Kia Corp announced that nearly 170,000 electric vehicles will be recalled to address a charging system software error.

The South Korean news agency Yonhap stated that 61,131 Hyundai Avante model cars will be recalled due to weak front headlight illumination.

It was also discovered that warning sounds when pedestrians are present do not activate in 136 Tesla Model 3 cars during low-speed driving or reversing.

The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced that 232,000 cars from 12 models from Hyundai Motor, Kia, Stellantis Korea, and Tesla Korea will be subject to recall due to manufacturing defects.

Among these vehicles, software errors were found in the integrated charging system in 169,932 cars from Hyundai and Kia, including 113,916 cars from Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Genesis GV 60, GV 70, and GV 80 electric models, and 56,016 Kia EV6 cars.

The ministry stated that the error may prevent vehicles from charging at low voltage, which could lead to the possibility of vehicles stopping while driving.

According to the ministry, 527 Jeep Cherokee vehicles produced by Stellantis Group were found to have rear lights higher than the standard, and issues were discovered in high voltage batteries in 148 hybrid electric Jeep Wrangler units.
