The German car company "BMW" sold about 595 thousand cars in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 1.1% compared to last year.

The company announced today, Wednesday in Munich, that the sales growth is attributed to pure electric cars in addition to luxury and high-powered engine cars.

Sales of pure electric cars increased by almost 28% to 82,700 cars, and sales of luxury cars also rose by nearly 22%. Thanks to different operating mechanisms, "BMW" is able to respond to the changing desires of customers. Sales director Jochen Goller said it is now clear that this strategy has proven successful.

In Europe, demand for "BMW" cars rose by 5.5% to about 228 thousand cars, and in the United States sales increased by 1.2% to about 91 thousand cars. However, in the important Chinese market, sales dropped by 3.8% to about 187 thousand cars.

Sales of the "Mini" brand worldwide decreased by 9.4% to just under 83 thousand cars. The company announced that preparations for the launch of the new Mini family in markets are underway rapidly.

The company aims for slight sales growth in 2024. Pure electric cars and luxury models are expected to see growth of more than 10%. Last year the company sold 2.55 million cars, an unprecedented number in the company's history. The company intends to present its financial figures for the first quarter on May 8. The company's general assembly is scheduled for May 15.
