Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari has imposed secrecy on its upcoming electric car, expected to be launched late next year, but hinted that the sound of the upcoming electric car will be similar to the distinctive sound of its traditional sports car engines, far from the whistling or buzzing sounds currently produced by electric motors.
Ferrari revealed its plan to produce a super powerful electric car for the first time three years ago. The production line for this car is scheduled to start later this year, despite secrecy being maintained over many of its details.
Earlier, Ferrari announced its endeavor to develop imitation sounds for use in the electric car, while Benedetto Vigna, the company's CEO, said in an interview with the American CNBC channel that "the nature of these sounds" will be "emotionally stimulating".
Vigna said the company will maintain its focus on performance power, design quality, and driving experience in its range of electric cars, confirming that "electric cars are not silent".
There may be a code name for the fake engine sound, whether it mimics the noise of a real engine or designs a more unique sound, potentially challenging the idea of the supposed sound for any electric car in the future.
It is worth mentioning that some gasoline-powered cars like the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R already have loudspeakers aimed at amplifying the exhaust sound to give them a more sporty character.
So far, Hyundai and Dodge believe that electric cars provide the best experience when the traditional engine sound is added to them.
