A joint statement from Hamas and Islamic Jihad reported the delivery of the Palestinian resistance factions' response to the proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The statement said that the head of Hamas's political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, and the Secretary-General of Islamic Jihad, Ziad Nakhaleh, delivered the response from the resistance factions this evening to Qatar during a meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the response was also sent to Egypt.
The statement added that the response prioritizes the interests of the Palestinian people, emphasizes the necessity of fully halting the continuous aggression on Gaza, and calls for the withdrawal from the entire Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian delegation expressed its readiness to engage positively to reach an agreement that ends this war against the Palestinians, stemming from a sense of national responsibility.
Earlier this evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Egypt and Qatar received a response from Hamas and the Palestinian factions regarding the latest proposal on a ceasefire deal and the exchange of captives.
The ministry added in a statement: "Both parties affirm that their joint mediation efforts with the United States are ongoing until an agreement is reached, where the mediators will study the response and coordinate with the relevant parties regarding the next steps."
