Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will host the G7 summit online on Wednesday evening, to which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been invited to participate.
This was announced by Japanese Government Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno at a press conference today.
Matsuno said: "This evening, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, as the President of the G7, intends to hold online negotiations among the G7 leaders. In addition to the G7 leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend at the beginning of the meeting."
Also, according to the Japanese official, the G7 leaders plan to discuss "important issues facing the international community," including the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, and issues related to artificial intelligence.
Last month, following talks held in Tokyo by the foreign ministers of the G7 countries, Japan announced that the group is "united" in continuing its "strong support" for Ukraine and imposing sanctions on Russia "despite the current international situation."
