Jacob Shaffelburg and Jonathan David scored the goals for the Canadian national team against the United States
The Canadian soccer team achieved its first victory on American soil in 67 years after defeating the U.S. 2-1 on Saturday in an international friendly in Kansas.
Goals for the Canadian team, under the guidance of German Jesse Marsch, were scored by Jacob Shaffelburg (17) and Jonathan David (17), while Lucas de la Torre (66) scored for the American team.
The last victory for the Canadians on their American neighbor's ground dates back to 1957 during the World Cup qualifiers (3-2).
The American team continued its shaky performances lately after being eliminated in the first round of the Copa America held on its home soil, which led to the dismissal of coach Greg Berhalter.
Media reports on Saturday stated that Tottenham and Chelsea's coach Mauricio Pochettino is preparing to take over as the head coach of the American national team.
