US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the solution to the conflict lies in the departure of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, indicating that there are other countries besides Jordan and Egypt that will accept them.
Trump reiterated in a press conference held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House his support for a plan to permanently relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries.
Trump added, "The people in Gaza have lived through hell; it is not a place to live, and I don’t think they should go back. You cannot live in Gaza now; I think we need another location. I think it should be a place that makes people happy." according to what was reported by "Al Jazeera Net".
He continued, "Gaza has never succeeded, and if we can find suitable land and build beautiful places, that would be better than going back to Gaza."
He added, "When you look at the past decades, all you see in Gaza is death; this has been happening for years," pointing out that he wants the people in Gaza to find a suitable place to live in, as what is happening in the tunnels and elsewhere is chaos, and that the residents of Gaza have seen nothing but death and destruction, according to his expression.
Trump, promoting his plan, said, "What if we could find a beautiful area to permanently resettle people in good homes, where they can be happy and not be shot at or killed like what happens in Gaza."
Trump explained that Egypt and Jordan had informed Washington that they were not willing to accept residents from Gaza, but he claimed that there are other countries that have expressed willingness to accept them and that many leaders of countries have contacted us and expressed their desire to host residents from Gaza."
