Hurricane Fiona swept through the eastern part of Canada with force.. The storm made landfall early Saturday morning between Canso and Gaspé. Authorities reported several damages and half a million homes plunged into darkness.
Nova Scotia is the most affected province by the storm so far.
Between 75 and 125 mm of rain were recorded in parts of mainland eastern Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Significant rainfall amounts ranging from 100 to 200 mm are likely by Saturday evening in the same provinces, according to the federal agency.
