The three-day strike by train drivers across Germany ended on Friday evening, but the head of the train drivers' union (GDL) warned that the railway company (Deutsche Bahn) must be prepared for more upcoming strikes.
As the strike ended, Klaus Wieselsky, head of the GDL union for train drivers in Berlin, said on Friday evening, "After completing this strike procedure, we will give the railway company some time to come to their senses."
Wieselsky added: "If they do not, the next strike will follow, and it will be longer and will harm the company more severely," without specifying a date for another strike.
The railway company said passengers should be prepared for delays and cancellations even after the strike.
The company operating the railways expects operations to return to normal by Saturday morning
