Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Egypt's permanent representative to the United Nations, said that Egypt stresses the necessity of forcing Israel – the occupying force – to implement the Security Council, General Assembly, and International Court of Justice decisions in order to immediately and permanently stop the fire in the Gaza Strip.

He added in his speech before a session of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss Palestine's request for full membership, on Monday evening, that Egypt emphasizes the importance of preventing Israel from launching any military operation in Rafah, and opening all crossings to enforce humanitarian aid without any restrictions or conditions.

Egypt reiterated its affirmation on the importance of confronting any attempts aimed at displacing the Palestinian people or preventing their return to their lands and homes. He continued: “We want a clear decision in its wording, without conditions or legal constructs or drafting that can be manipulated in its interpretation; we have all had enough due to the current humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.”

He called on the United Nations to enforce the Human Rights Council resolution to prohibit the export of weapons to the Israeli killing machine, saying that “this alone is enough to stop the current massacre.” He urged the start of an international investigation overseen by the United Nations into all the crimes committed by Israel since the war on Gaza, the beginning of accountability for those crimes, and holding Israel – the occupying force – responsible for the cost of reconstruction, building, and compensation.

He also called on all countries that have suspended their contributions to the "UNRWA" agency to resume those contributions and stop linking them to political conditions.
