6.2-magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Indonesia

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said that an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 struck the Papua region in eastern Indonesia, and it is unlikely to cause a tsunami.

The center added that the earthquake occurred about 262 kilometers between east and northeast Biak in Indonesia, at a depth of 10 kilometers. There were no reports yet of damage or casualties.

Earlier on Saturday, earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.1, 5.9, and 5.5 occurred near the same location.
