The French police said that a car crashed into the entrance of a café in northern Paris on Wednesday evening, resulting in one death.
The police reported that the incident resulted in 6 injuries, three of whom are in critical condition.
They added that the driver of the car fled the scene, according to a report by "Reuters".
A police source indicated that a passenger in the car was found to have used alcohol and drugs, noting that he was not injured in the incident.
France is on high alert ahead of the Olympic Games that Paris will host starting July 26.
