The Civil Defense Agency in Algeria announced the control of 9 fires out of a total of 16 fires in a new wave that affected different regions of Algeria in recent hours.
According to a statement from the agency today, Sunday, 16 fires broke out in the provinces of Bejaia, Jijel, Qalmah, Skikda, and Tizi Ouzou, with 9 of them having been extinguished so far, including 4 in Bejaia, one each in the provinces of Skikda and Qalmah, and 3 in the province of Tizi Ouzou. Meanwhile, 7 hotspots are still active in the provinces of Bejaia, Jijel, and Tizi Ouzou.
In a related context, the National Gendarmerie arrested a 56-year-old man suspected of being involved in the fire that broke out in the Ich Baz forest in the Boulimat area of Bejaia.
