Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that the Israeli army is achieving “great” accomplishments during the ground operation in the Gaza Strip, but it is also “paying a heavy price.”
Galant added to the elite forces in the Shaldag Air Force and Unit 669, “We are deploying forces extensively, deep in the strip,” "There are battles against the operating forces [in Gaza] and the results and achievements on the battlefield are very high."
Galant continued, “Unfortunately, in war, there is also a price to pay, and on the last day, the price was heavy,” nevertheless, “we are also determined to continue and win.”
According to the "Times of Israel" newspaper, the Israeli army reported the killing of two soldiers and the injury of two others seriously during fierce fighting in Gaza today, and that "many" Palestinians have also been killed."
On the other hand, National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi told reporters in Tel Aviv today, Tuesday, that the Israeli army will have to eliminate the threat posed by Hezbollah against Israel on its northern border, but only after expelling Hamas from Gaza.
He continued, "The day after eliminating Hamas.. we will have to think about what we will lead from this period regarding Lebanon," saying, "What we have learned will force us to act against Hezbollah."
He spoke on the twenty-fifth day of the Gaza war, which erupted when Hamas infiltrated southern Israel, killing more than 1,400 people and taking over 239 hostages.
The international community has worked to prevent the outbreak of a two-front war, which would include both Iran-backed groups, Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north.
Hanegbi said that Israel’s enemies want to see it make the mistake of spreading to the maximum extent, clarifying that Israel does not want to fall into this trap.
Hanegbi added that talks are already underway, including with the security institution and the National Security Council, about what Gaza will look like when it is no longer under Hamas control, confirming, “We will not stop… we cannot stop” until Hamas is removed from Gaza."
He confirmed that the United States supports Israel in achieving this goal.
Regarding the 239 hostages, he said there is no agreement on the table to secure their release.
Saying, "Credit goes to Qatar for working to find a solution to the hostage crisis, which does not include only Israelis but also passport holders from more than 33 countries, and Qatar also helped release four female prisoners who were freed in the past two weeks."
