Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi called today, Tuesday, on the international community to conduct an independent investigation into the Israeli aggression and prosecute it for its deliberate targeting of civilians in the Gaza Strip, their facilities, depriving them of their humanitarian needs, starving them, and subjecting them to siege and collective punishment.
The Omani News Agency quoted Al Busaidi as confirming that the Sultanate of Oman is committed to political solutions based on dialogue and the sovereignty of international law and the necessity of international community intervention to stop the war on Gaza and deter Israel from violating international law and continuing its military operations in killing civilians inside the strip and demolishing facilities, buildings, and civilian neighborhoods throughout the Palestinian territories.
The Omani Foreign Minister said, "My firm belief is that violence is not a solution, and we strongly condemn it because the victims are often children and civilians, and if we recall previous historical experiences, we certainly see the impossibility of achieving a military solution to the Palestinian issue or the Arab-Israeli conflict. Yes, there are existing movements or organizations to resist the occupation, and this is a legitimate right for them, but if we want a final just solution, it cannot be achieved militarily but through peaceful means, meaning the possible and sustainable solution lies in political solutions, dialogue, and strong joint commitment to achieving peace. The Sultanate of Oman - as always - is committed to political solutions based on dialogue and the sovereignty of international law."
He added that the consequences of the attacks and military operations on the Gaza Strip are "continuing to confront these inhumane Israeli practices and actions by upholding our values and adhering to our human ethics rejecting killing, destruction, and assaults on children and civilians, and continuing to exercise political, diplomatic, and legal pressures and employing the undeniable voice of truth, the language of reason, and the power of logic in front of the unjust Israeli aggression in killing innocent civilians, destroying their facilities and homes, and depriving them of water, food, fuel, and medicine. I would like to say that the media has a responsibility to deal with the situation objectively and credibly and to convey the just voice to the world and appeal to the human conscience everywhere. In the end, justice must prevail and oppression must recede."
He emphasized the role and commitment of international organizations, foremost of which is the United Nations and its Security Council, where the value of constructive international interaction lies in protecting the rights of civilians in peace and war. Therefore, the enormous capabilities of global frameworks are capable of creating the necessary conditions to stop the conflict and adopt peaceful solutions to it.
He considered that the current Israeli military action is not a necessary measure for self-defense. All countries condemn and denounce targeting civilians regardless of the nationalities of their residents because that contradicts the other values we believe in. He confirmed that "the Israeli response is extremely excessive and flagrantly exaggerated, especially the targeting of civilians, and here we must also not forget that the Palestinian people also have the right to defend themselves."
In the same context, Algeria confirmed that lasting and sustainable peace in the Middle East cannot be achieved as long as the international community continues to ignore the legitimate and lawful rights of the Palestinians to liberate their occupied lands and establish their independent state.
This came during the speech delivered by Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Algerian Parliament in Algiers, during the extraordinary session held to discuss the serious developments of the brutal aggression on the occupied Palestine.
Attaf explained that Palestinians are subjected to the most heinous crimes, for nothing but because they said no, no to burying the Palestinian cause, no to trampling on the legitimate national Palestinian rights, no to emptying the Palestinian national project of its content and meaning, and no to the systematic elimination of the Palestinian state.
He added that what Gaza is suffering today from blatant aggression, the unjust siege it is under, the bloodshed and loss of lives it is exposed to are not the result of events of October 7 recently, pointing out that it is certain that this aggression is nothing but an advanced stage of the continuation, expansion, and aggravation of the Israeli occupation, which one of its officials recently displayed from the podium of the United Nations General Assembly a map that completely erases Palestine from existence, reviving the Greater Israel project.
He continued, saying that this aggression is nothing but the result of the immunity unjustly and wrongly granted to the Israeli occupation and its moral, political, military, and media support to occupy and annex more Palestinian lands and build settlements on the bones of its original Palestinian inhabitants. He added that this Israeli aggression would not have happened without the international record full of impunity, non-accountability, and lack of punishment for the Israeli occupation, its violations, breaches, and its tampering with all international norms, laws, and charters.
He went on to say that this aggression is nothing but the result of the absence of a sincere international political will to solve the Palestinian issue, a cause that has been marginalized and even erased from the international community’s agenda for the past two decades. It has not seen any serious peace initiative since the 1990s.
The Algerian Foreign Minister criticized the double standards of some countries in supposedly and falsely pleading for the occupier's right to self-defense while at the same time depriving the people under occupation of the simplest rights guaranteed to them by international legitimacy, including their right to reject liquidation and annihilation!
Attaf questioned the logic that justifies killing more than eight thousand Palestinian civilians, including more than three thousand children and infants, and the logic that justifies the destruction of more than forty-five percent (45%) of the buildings on the heads of their residents in the Gaza Strip, and that which justifies forcibly displacing an entire people from their land under aerial bombardment serving an expansionist agenda threatening the security and stability of the entire region.
In the same context, the Algerian Foreign Minister added that his country warns against the danger of continuing to bet on the worst by extinguishing the flame of hope for the Palestinian people, whose modern generations know nothing about the peace process. The last peaceful settlement initiative dates back to 1998, and since then, the Palestinian cause has not witnessed any international interest in the form of action aimed at improving the conditions of the Palestinian people and enabling them to fully regain their rights without deficiency.
