Only a small part of the Catholic Church in northern Alberta remains after it caught fire early Thursday morning.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said a fire at an inactive Catholic church in Fort Chipewyan was reported at 2:34 AM.
A community member identified the building as a Roman Catholic church, built in 1909.
In a live broadcast on Facebook at 3:20 AM, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN) Chief Allan Adam said the building was "completely destroyed."
