South Africa announced that BRICS leaders will hold an extraordinary video meeting on November 21 about the situation in the Middle East, especially in the Gaza Strip.

The press office of the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, who chairs the group, said: "BRICS leaders, Brazil, Russia, India, and China, chaired by South Africa, will hold an extraordinary online meeting, and the leaders of the (new) BRICS countries, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE, have also been invited."

After Ramaphosa's opening speech, representatives of BRICS members and the invited countries will make statements on behalf of their countries regarding the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza."

The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, will also participate in the meeting. Participants are expected to adopt a joint statement at the meeting.

The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the extraordinary meeting.

Amnesty International also said on Monday that the intensity and severity of the current bombardment on Gaza are unprecedented, confirming its extensive documentation of the Israeli forces' flagrant disregard for international humanitarian law.

The war in Gaza entered its 45th day, with the Israeli army continuing its operations in the Strip, while Palestinian factions continue to resist and bombard the invading Israeli forces. The devastating war has left more than 13,000 dead, including more than 5,500 children and 3,500 women, according to the latest statistics issued by Gaza authorities.
