Montreal police arrested billionaire Robert Miller, founder of Future Electronics, yesterday, Thursday, to face sexual assault charges involving 10 complainants, many of whom were minors when the alleged crimes occurred.

The police clarified in a press conference that the 21 alleged crimes, including sexual assault, sexual interference, and enticing a person to engage in prostitution, took place between 1994 and 2016.

Investigators stated that the 80-year-old Miller was arrested at his home in Westmount and released on the promise to appear in court on July 3.

David Shein explained that the charges send a message to the victims that it is not too late to file a complaint, crediting media reports from last year with helping to revive the investigation.

Miller had resigned from his position as chairman and CEO of global electronics distributor Future Electronics in February 2023, stating that he would focus on protecting his reputation amidst reports that he allegedly gave young women money, trips, and extravagant gifts in exchange for sex.

Shein stated, “The main reason for this press conference is to renew our appeal to any victim or witness of sexual exploitation concerning this case, or any similar case. This comprehensive criminal investigation is not over yet.”

Other charges against Miller include sexual exploitation and sexual contact with a minor for consideration.
