Shooting that occurred on Thursday at a high school in the American state of Iowa resulted in "a number of casualties due to gunfire," according to local authorities, adding that the incident ended but without confirming any deaths.
Dallas County Police Chief in the American Midwest, Adam Infante, told reporters after the shooting at "Perry" High School, "The exact number of injured and the severity of the injuries are not clear yet, but we are currently working to verify that. There is no additional danger to the public."
ABC network reported that at least one person was killed without indicating whether it was the shooter or someone else.
The shooting occurred around 7:30 PM local time (1:30 PM GMT), according to Infante, and local, state, and federal authorities responded.

Perry is located about 55 kilometers from the state capital, Des Moines.
Recordings and images from the site and others published by local media showed a heavy police presence.
Infante pointed out that the shooting occurred before the school day started, so there were "very few students and faculty members in the building, which I believe contributed to a good outcome."
While confirming that authorities have identified the shooter, he did not disclose any additional details including whether he was detained.
Infante said, "The residents are safe. We are now trying to uncover the facts."
