Sudanese Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is making an official visit to Tripoli on Monday to meet with Presidential Council President Mohamed al-Menfi and Prime Minister of the National Unity Government Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh.
Based on an official invitation he received from the Libyan Presidential Council President Mohamed al-Menfi, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is making an official visit to Tripoli on Monday.
A source close to the Presidential Council stated that "al-Menfi received a message from al-Burhan expressing his intention to visit Libya to discuss the Sudanese issue, during his meeting with the Sudanese Ambassador to Libya Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed on January 22 of this year."
The Media Office of the Libyan National Unity Government confirmed in a statement that "Sudanese Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan will make a forthcoming official visit to Tripoli."
Yesterday, the Media Office of the Libyan National Unity Government mentioned that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh held a phone call with the Rapid Support Forces leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hamidati), inviting him to visit Libya.
The government stated in a statement that the phone call dealt with "the necessity of bringing the views of the Sudanese parties closer to establish peace and stability in brotherly Sudan," while Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh announced an initiative to "establish peace and a ceasefire in Sudan" between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in a war that has caused many casualties and about 8 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
