Al-Azhar Al-Sharif announced its full support for the courageous stance taken by the South African government, and its solidarity with the lawsuit filed before the International Court of Justice to prosecute the Zionist entity for its terrorist crimes against children, women, the elderly, and youth, and the immediate demand to stop its continuous and ongoing aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip, which amounts to the crime of genocide.

Al-Azhar confirmed that South Africa's position reflects the will of the free world and the living human conscience that rejects scenes of killing, destruction, the shedding of innocent blood, massacres, and the atrocities committed by the Zionist entity against innocent Palestinians in full view and amidst the silence of the world.

Al-Azhar expressed its deep thanks and profound appreciation to the legal committee sent to the International Court of Justice, led by Counselor Ronald Lamola, the South African Minister of Justice, whose statements today before the panel of judges of the court strongly expressed all that we and the free people of the world feel, rejecting the horrific violations and brutal crimes committed by the occupation against the defenseless, innocent, and vulnerable people of Gaza, proving the deliberate intention to completely eliminate all remaining forms of life there, in clear and explicit violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which the Zionist entity signed, thereby proving its blatant and flagrant breach of the provisions of that convention and its purposes.

Al-Azhar encouraged taking similar and honorable positions like South Africa’s stance, expressing its appreciation for all countries that have declared their support for the legal case presented by South Africa, calling on the countries of the world to mobilize efforts and participate in this important step, and to take strong and similar positions to stop the shedding of innocent blood. It called for intensifying efforts and exerting more international pressure to force this rogue entity to stop its massacres and crimes in Gaza and to restore the Palestinian right to its owners.
