US President Joe Biden declared that he fully intends to remain in the race for a new presidential term, despite his disastrous performance in the first debate against his opponent, Donald Trump, which raised alarm within his Democratic Party.
Biden added before a crowded audience of his supporters in North Carolina: "I don’t walk as easily as I used to, I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to, I don’t debate as I used to, but I know what I do best, which is tell the truth."
Biden (81 years old) continued: "I know the difference between right and wrong, I know how to do this job, I know how to get things done, I know as millions of Americans know, that when you fall you can get back up," according to Sputnik News.
The first televised debate between US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump took place in Atlanta, Georgia, organized by the American news network CNN, where the two candidates discussed expectations of global war and the conflict in Ukraine, as well as issues related to the American economy, with discussions not being devoid of accusations exchanged.
An American media outlet reported, citing its sources, that the Democratic Party was in a state of alarm after Biden's speech.
According to reports, a significant number of Democrats expressed their concerns about Biden's poor performance and its implications for the future of his campaign.
The percentage of viewers who indicated that Trump's performance was better was about 67% compared to 33% for Biden, according to the poll.
