After nearly 7 years since the discovery of a murdered girl in Denmark, a 32-year-old man has been charged, according to the Danish police announced today, Monday.
The police said the man is accused of depriving the 17-year-old girl of her freedom, raping her, and killing her, in addition to other charges. He was also accused of kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl last year and attempting to kill her as well, in addition to attempting to kidnap and rape a 15-year-old student from the city of Sorø at the end of 2022.
According to the man's defense lawyer, the accused partially confessed to the charges in the case of the 13-year-old girl but denied attempting to kill her. The man denies the charges against him in the other two cases, according to the "Ritzaus Bureau" news agency.
The man's trial is scheduled to begin next May at a court in the city of "Næstved," about 80 kilometers southwest of the capital Copenhagen. A verdict is expected by the end of June.
