The Libyan Observatory newspaper reported from a military source in the General Command this morning, Wednesday, that search is ongoing for 40 soldiers who are missing due to the disaster of the floods and torrential rains that hit the eastern part of the country.
The source added that they "were at the gates on the road to the Derna dam before it collapsed," explaining that "the soldiers were tasked with enforcing the curfew and monitoring traffic on the dam road before it collapsed on them."
The toll of the victims of the floods and torrential rains caused by the "Daniel" hurricane, which swept through eastern Libya over the past two days, is increasing, as local media reported that more than 6,800 people have died while the number of missing is estimated to be more than 10,000 others.
