Bill Gates, the CEO of Microsoft, warned that if the world can avoid war, the likelihood of a global pandemic will become a reality in the next 25 years.

He told the "Make It" program on CNBC that "a lot of disruptions" in our era could lead to igniting a major war, warning that "if we avoid a major war... then, yes, there will be another pandemic, likely in the next 25 years."

After witnessing the inadequate preparedness for the COVID-19 pandemic, Gates joined a coalition of scientific minds who fear how the world might perform if another global health emergency sweeps through the population.

Gates authored a book in 2022 titled "How to Prevent the Next Pandemic," where he addressed the shortcomings in preparedness to deal with the impacts of widespread diseases, including enhanced quarantine techniques and investment in vaccine research.

Gates said in the interview, speaking about the United States, that "the country the world expected to be the model in leadership has not lived up to those expectations."
