Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre announced his plan to regain control of the Canadian border, to prevent the entry of fentanyl, weapons, human traffickers, and terrorists, emphasizing that these measures aim to protect Canadians and enhance national security.
Poilievre: “The Liberal government has lost control of the borders”
Poilievre said: “We shouldn’t wait for warnings from other countries until the Liberals realize they have destroyed border policy. I will regain control of our borders, stop fentanyl from killing our people, and put Canada first.”
The six-point plan
Deploying the Canadian Armed Forces to the border, supported by military helicopters and advanced surveillance systems.
Adding 2,000 additional border officers to enhance security protection.
Expanding the powers of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to cover the entire border, not just official crossings.
Installing surveillance towers and truck-mounted drone systems to detect any illegal border breaches.
Using advanced scanning devices at all land ports and seaports, capable of detecting weapons, drugs, and stolen vehicles inside containers and trucks.
Tracking individuals leaving Canada to ensure awareness of how many deportees are still illegally inside the country.
