The United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF" stated that its estimates indicate the presence of 17,000 children in the Gaza Strip who have become orphaned or separated from their families during the conflict.
UNICEF explained that almost every child in the sector, where more than one million children live, is believed to need psychological support.
The spokesperson for the international organization, Jonathan Creek, said that the children show very high levels of anxiety, adding that they have been unable to eat or sleep and suffer panic attacks whenever they hear the sound of an explosion.
The United Nations has expressed concern over Israel's escalation of the conflict in Khan Younis, which has led to an increase in the number of displaced people seeking refuge in Rafah.
