The UN rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, stated that the level of destruction of homes and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip is unprecedented.

He added during an intervention with "Cairo News" channel on Friday, that UN and international organizations are focusing heavily on ensuring the provision of suitable housing and shelters in the Gaza Strip.

He clarified that the famine in the Gaza Strip has led to many deaths among Palestinians, and resources must be mobilized to begin reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip immediately, calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and adherence to the Security Council resolution.

He confirmed that a ceasefire in Gaza provides a safe haven for Palestinians in the area.

He continued: "We must have a comprehensive record of the damage, destruction, and losses caused by the Israeli war on Gaza," emphasizing that the continued Israeli occupation of Gaza hinders reconstruction efforts in the area.

He added: "The necessary guarantees must be arranged to safely access the Gaza Strip... Estimates from international organizations indicate that the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip will take 80 years."
