The head of the UN human rights mission, Ambassador Haitham Abu Saeed, said that Israel targets the deportation of Palestinians from Gaza; to facilitate the construction of numerous settlements in the sector.

Abu Saeed affirmed - in press statements - that the Israeli army practices "deliberate killing and ethnic cleansing operations against children and women in the Gaza Strip."

He pointed out that Israel's attempt to invade Rafah; the Palestinian city represents a threat to the lives of about 1.3 million displaced people, adding "We do not trust the Israeli army's claims of providing safe passages in the Gaza Strip, while at the same time, the occupation forces are blocking the roads leading to aid distribution points for the people of Gaza."

He highlighted that agricultural programs in Gaza are facing a disastrous situation due to the Israeli army implementing a scorched earth policy.

The head of the UN human rights mission also touched on the fact that Israel imposes an economic blockade on the Palestinians in Gaza; which has led to the spread of famine.
