Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Sunday that Turkey has agreed to supply Egypt with its increasingly popular drones following the normalization of relations between the two countries after a decade of estrangement.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is scheduled to travel to Egypt on February 14 to meet his counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in his first visit since Ankara and Cairo upgraded their relations by appointing ambassadors last year.

According to Reuters, Fidan told Khabar TV that the Turkish leader will discuss bilateral and regional issues including trade, energy, and security with el-Sisi.

Fidan added, "Normalization in our relations is important, and for Egypt it is important to possess certain technologies, so we have an agreement to supply (Egypt) with drones and other technologies," without further details.

International demand for Turkish drones has risen after their impact on conflicts in Syria, Libya, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine. Ethiopia, which has cool relations with Egypt over the hydroelectric dam on the Blue Nile, is among the buyers of Turkish drones.
