Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, Trudeau's ex-wife, announced that she "never considered" Justin Trudeau to be the Prime Minister of Canada.
Last summer, the prominent Canadian couple ended their 18-year marriage.
Sophie spoke during media statements about her new book Closer Together, Knowing Ourselves, Loving Each Other, saying, "I wrote this book so that people can know themselves better, love themselves better, and have the tools and opportunities to face crises."
Sophie also shares personal stories in the book as she navigates her personal journey towards self-discovery.
She shared snippets from her life, including how she met Trudeau when they were kids, how they reconnected in their twenties, their courtship, and her struggle with an eating disorder.
She offered insight into how childhood can shape mental health, relationships, and family dynamics.
Sophie and Trudeau have been married since 2005, and she revealed that she fell in love with the man behind the position of Prime Minister, but she never aspired to be the wife of a global leader.
She said, "Because I never considered my partner to be the Prime Minister, I never regarded my marriage as a political marriage."
It is worth noting that Justin Trudeau has been serving as the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada since 2015 and has been the leader of the Liberal Party since 2013.
