The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced at a press conference today, Sunday, the results of the investigations into the Hamdaniyah fire, indicating that the number of fire victims reached 107, in addition to 82 injured.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior stated that "the wedding hall in Hamdaniyah was covered with flammable materials," adding that "the main cause of the fire was the launch of fireworks inside the wedding hall."

The Iraqi interior ministry also referred the deputy mayor of Hamdaniyah and other officials to the judiciary in connection with the incident.

A fire broke out at a wedding hall in the town of Hamdaniyah in Nineveh province, northern Iraq, during a wedding ceremony last Tuesday, according to the authorities.

Last Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani visited the injured and the families of the victims in northern Iraq.

The Prime Minister met with the injured and the families of the victims at the Hamdaniyah Hospital and the Republican Hospital, and then visited the Mar Behnam Monastery for the Syriac Catholics to offer his condolences to the victims.

The Iraqi Prime Minister declared a public mourning period of 3 days in Iraq, while in Nineveh province, where the disaster occurred, Jabouri announced a mourning period of one week throughout the province.
