After several hours of the severe snowstorm that swept through several cities in Ontario, warnings are still ongoing.
The Canadian Ministry of Environment issued a blizzard warning today, Monday, due to near-zero visibility amid snowfall and stormy winds where parts of Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area, can expect up to 60 cm.
As a result, the Toronto Police Services (TPS) announced the closure of Don Valley Parkway and The Gardiner Expressway on Monday morning.
The agency wrote in a statement on its Twitter account: "Due to severe weather conditions and for the safety of drivers, Toronto Police are temporarily closing DVP and Gardiner."
The Canadian Ministry of Environment also advises avoiding travel whenever possible.
The police also said, "If you become stranded in a car, do not leave, as the vehicle provides some form of protection from the cold."
The agency explained that finding one person walking on ice is more difficult than finding a stuck car or truck.
Adding, "If you travel and lose your way until the blizzard passes, protect yourself from wind, cold, and confusion by staying in shelter or indoors or with your vehicle."

It is worth mentioning that Monday was the first day scheduled for Ontario students to return to in-person learning across Ontario.
However, due to the weather, many schools across the province did not reopen for in-class learning.
Snowfall is expected to stop Monday evening before returning to sunny weather tomorrow, Tuesday.
