A winter storm is heading towards the capital Ottawa and is expected to begin tonight, as the Canadian Environment Agency has issued a winter storm warning in Ottawa.

There is also a special weather statement in effect in the capital, with total precipitation expected to range from 10 to 25 mm by this afternoon.
 

The rain will then turn to snow this afternoon as temperatures drop, with snow expected to fall from 20 to 30 cm by tomorrow morning, Friday.

The Ministry of the Environment said if you are driving in Ottawa tonight, you will need to be cautious - as heavy snow is expected and may reach 2-4 cm per hour at times.

On the other hand, temperatures have started to decline after reaching 6 degrees Celsius above zero throughout the day.

Temperatures will drop to -11 degrees Celsius tonight, but it will feel like -20 degrees Celsius with the wind chill.

The snow will end tomorrow morning, with stormy weather on Friday, with winds expected to reach speeds of 50 kilometers per hour in the afternoon.

Snow will begin again in the evening and temperatures will drop to -15 degrees Celsius at night.

On Saturday - more snow is expected and temperatures will rise to reach 3 degrees below zero.
