Tokyo and other areas in eastern Japan are preparing to welcome Typhoon "Ambil", amid the suspension of some transport services during the travel period of the summer holiday, despite the reduced likelihood of the powerful storm making landfall, according to Japan's Kyodo News Agency on Thursday.

After the Meteorological Agency warned of potential natural disasters due to strong winds and heavy rains until the day after tomorrow, Saturday, flights and Shinkansen bullet train services have already been canceled in some areas tomorrow, Friday, which may disrupt travelers returning home during one of the known peak periods of the year.

At the same time, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have announced the cancellation of hundreds of flights to and from Haneda Airport in Tokyo and Narita Airport near the capital, tomorrow, Friday.
