The director of the Israeli Institute of Forensic Medicine, Han Kugel, revealed new details about the killing of Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar, explaining that the latter remained in agony for hours before a bullet in his head took his life, causing severe brain damage.

Kugel stated in remarks to the broadcasting authority "Kan 11" that the corpse arrived at the institute at nine thirty in the evening, where DNA tests and CT scans were conducted, and work on the autopsy continued until around midnight.

He clarified that preparations for identifying the corpse began before its arrival, after they received preliminary information about the possibility of Sinwar's assassination.

An finger was amputated from the corpse and sent to the laboratory for DNA matching with previous judicial records, as Sinwar had been captured previously in Israel.

The site "Wynet" pointed out that the corpse was transferred to a secret location inside Israel after the autopsy, without clarity on whether the body would be used as a bargaining chip in future negotiations, especially concerning the return of 101 Israeli hostages held in Gaza.

The site confirmed that the autopsy revealed that Sinwar was shot in the head and showed signs of other gunfire, including the use of shells.

An Israeli official commented to the newspaper "Israel Hayom" that the assassination of Sinwar would not put an end to the war, indicating that Israeli objectives in Gaza have not yet been achieved.
