The Hebrew site Walla reported that the Israeli army lost communications with the commander of a unit stationed on the border with the Gaza Strip, while confrontations are ongoing amid escalating Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

On the other hand, the Israeli government's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir signed a decision to declare a state of civil emergency across Israel, which will take effect immediately and will remain in effect for 48 hours.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, called for an immediate halt to "military operations" in Gaza, pointing out that Israel's ongoing enforcement of "violent and extremist policies" deprives the region of any serious opportunities for stability.

Moreover, the Palestinian Hamas movement reported that the Al-Qassam Brigades have in their grasp dozens of prisoners, including officers and soldiers, who have been secured in safe locations and in the tunnels of the Palestinian resistance.

The Palestinian resistance launched a surprise strike against Israel early Saturday, firing an unprecedented number of rockets from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.

The press service of the Israeli army reported that the Al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of Hamas) launched more than two thousand rockets; additionally, dozens of Palestinian resistance fighters managed to infiltrate border areas in southern Israel and seize control of several military sites and settlements.

The military wing of Hamas also announced on Saturday the launch of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation against Israel, declaring that it has succeeded in capturing more than 35 Israeli soldiers and settlers.

In turn, the Israeli army announced the launch of "Operation Iron Swords" against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a speech directed to Israelis, stated that Israel is at war, and he ordered a massive mobilization among reserve soldiers.

For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed, during an emergency meeting with several officials, the right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves against Israeli forces and settlers.
